Strategies

As students learn strategies to use in their speech, you can use self-assessment to help students see their growth.

Students working on learning reading strategies for fluency or comprehension can also benefit from self-assessment. If you are working towards mastery of fluency with numbers or reading, give a quick scale rating self-assessment.

Strategies

If students are working towards communicating their needs or taking turns, it would be great to have them assess how they did by completing some quick self-assessment journals.

If students are learning how to build their self-esteem, students should see how they are progressing and if they need more support even after being taught strategies. Reflective self-assessments would be great for this.
