Below are suggestions that you can peruse through and get a better sense of what self-assessments can look like in a K-2 setting.

Fluency with 4, 3, 2, 1

Fluency can take place in reading, math, and morning greetings. Students rate their performance with fingers in the air: 4 being the expert and 1 being in need of more support. It can be done after reading a poem, math fluency, or even lining up. Take a look at these rating posters.

Strategies

As students learn strategies in reading, math, writing, science/social science, or SEL, students can journal about how well they applied their newfound strategy. Students can view how much progress is being made or if they are ready to tackle a new strategy.
